• From May, Munich-based food tech provider Foodji also wants to be providing Augsburg-based businesses with healthy and wholesome meals.

• One of the first customers in the region is aircraft manufacturer Airbus, which is already using Foodji vending machines at other German locations to feed its shift workers.

Munich, May 25, 2025 — The Munich-based food tech provider Foodji Continues to expand its presence in southern Germany: Since May, the company has also been active in Augsburg — another milestone on the way to establishing healthy and fresh meals as a standard at every workplace.

Foodji has developed an intelligent food vending machine that offers companies a cheap and flexible alternative to traditional corporate catering. Companies for which their own canteen is not worthwhile in particular benefit from this. With the help of AI-supported software and an automated supply chain, the smart vending machines provide freshly prepared meals around the clock. The menu includes over 300 main courses, breakfast dishes and baked goods.

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus relies on Foodji

Among the first customers in Augsburg is aircraft manufacturer Airbus, which Foodji is already At several German locations deploys. “Foodji's flexible catering concept has absolutely proven successful for us,” says Ole Stechert, who, as Head of Catering, Food & Beverage Management, is responsible for company catering at Airbus in Germany. “We see employee catering as a central component of individual well-being — and therefore as the basis for the motivation, productivity and satisfaction of our employees. Against this background, we are all the more pleased to now also be able to offer them wholesome meals around the clock at our Augsburg location. Foodji has proven to be an ideal addition to our canteens.”

By moving to Augsburg, Foodji is strengthening its market position in southern Germany. “Augsburg is a key location for us in implementing our vision of making healthy food available at every workplace in Germany,” explains Thorsten Schaar, Vice President Sales at Foodji. “The city impresses as an economically strong location with industrial diversity — from mechanical engineering including robotics and automation to environmental technology and logistics. In this way, it combines economic dynamism with a strong industrial backbone. The convenient location between Munich, Nuremberg and Ulm also makes Augsburg an ideal starting point for further expanding our supply network in the future. In doing so, we are primarily aimed at the many medium-sized companies in the region, whose employees often have no access to balanced food at work. In addition, we are also looking at larger companies where our solution can usefully complement or even replace the range of existing company restaurants.”

Foodji continues to grow

The signs point to growth at Foodji: In the past two years, the scale-up has almost quadrupled its turnover. In January 2025, the company also announced an expansion of its Series A financing to 28 million US dollars and Extended its availability to the Hanover location. With the fresh capital, Foodji is driving forward the scaling of its business model and underlines its claim to expand its leading role in the market for intelligent employee catering.
