SAACKE is committed to greater diversity for all employees and chooses Foodji
World market leader for combustion plants
SAACKE is a fourth-generation family-owned company based in Bremen, Germany, specialising in industrial combustion technology (marine and land-based) and employing around 1,000 people, including 400 engineers and technicians. SAACKE has production sites in Bremen, Croatia, China and Argentina, as well as a global service and sales network. The headquarters and research and development facilities are located in Bremen. SAACKE is one of the world market leaders in innovative combustion technologies and has been developing and producing combustion plants since 1931.
Since the 1980s, SAACKE has also been using processes that efficiently, safely and sustainably utilise alternative and non-fossil fuels such as hydrogen, waste or low-calorific value residues for thermal energy generation. As a pioneer and innovation driver in combustion technology, SAACKE finds solutions for the use of even the most demanding fuels while managing to reduce the environmental impact of combustion to the technically feasible minimum.

Fresh supplies around the clock & more variety for administration and production
Operating the SAACKE canteen was becoming less and less profitable, mainly due to the increase in working from home after the pandemic. Due to a lack of economic viability, the canteen was closed – but this also meant the loss of an important meeting place. Local employees also had no alternative – restaurants and cafés would have taken a long time to reach:
- Over 60% of canteen seats remain unused – with ongoing fixed costs
- Employees working shifts were not catered for by the opening hours of a canteen.
- Not a sustainable concept due to high levels of food waste.
SAACKE's Objective:
- Providing fresh meals for administrative and production staff
- Not only covering hearty food preferences
- Bringing employees together again over meals, as was the case before Covid.

Foodji: Reliable supply situation
In its search for a flexible yet high-quality alternative to the canteen, SAACKE has found what it was looking for:
- The canteen has been completely replaced by Foodji, and more than 150 employees regularly use Foodji at the Bremen site.
- SAACKE subsidises breakfast and lunch for its employees, thereby creating tangible added value for the workforce on a daily basis.
- The canteen area has been refurbished and beautified and now once again offers a place for people to come together.
Foodji enabled SAACKE to introduce a cost-effective, flexible solution without the need for additional staff or infrastructure. ‘Food from vending machines always raises initial doubts, but demand now exceeds supply and our teams are eating together again.’ (Julian Plath, CFO)
“In everything we do, we are always mindful of our environmental and social responsibilities. We want to help meet the ever-growing energy needs of the global population with increasingly energy-efficient solutions. This applies not only to the new plants we build, but also to plant modernisation. That is what drives us.”

Result: Varied and fresh meals for all employees, regardless of whether they work in administration or production.
Foodji enabled SAACKE to replace the canteen and offer all employees 24/7 access to fresh, high-quality meals at no extra cost – regardless of their shift or workplace. A place for people to come together was created, where Foodji has proven itself to be a flexible, cost-effective and valued solution, ensuring high-quality catering for all employees every day.
