How does Foodji work?

The Foodji provides you with fresh food as a team. You can reserve your meal via the app and pick it up directly from the Foodji. To do so, scan the QR code on the screen and the Foodji will dispense your ordered product. You can find more details about the unique Foodji  here.

How much does a Foodji cost us?

What is Foodji?

The Foodji is a fresh food vending machine that provides staff catering at your workplace around the clock. It functions as the smallest canteen in the world. If you already have a canteen, the Foodji can expand the range with healthy and fresh dishes. It is important to note that the Foodji is permanently installed at your workplace and is not a catering or delivery service.

What is the cost to your company?

You and your team won't have to lift a finger with Foodji. We take care of filling, maintaining and cleaning Foodji. Read more about our Full Service here. To install Foodji, we only need 1m² of space, any mobile network and a domestic power socket.

Can I subsidise the food tax-free?

Yes, thanks to the tax-free meal allowance, you can create an attractive, fair catering offer and a real employee benefit for the entire team. The digital allowance is deducted directly in the Foodji app, so we guarantee 100% digital billing – without any intervention in payroll accounting.

Can we sample the food from Foodji beforehand?

Before we start the three-month trial period with you, you will have the opportunity to try our fresh dishes at a test meal. We will send you a test package that you can enjoy as a team.

Can I hire Foodji for my office or business?

Is there a trial period?

Yes, before we enter into a long-term contract, you can test Foodji at your location for three months – 100% risk-free.

How sustainable is Foodji's business model?

In all our operational areas, we focus on sustainable implementation and continuous optimisation of our processes. Sustainability is the basis of everything we do. We are already actively contributing to seven of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals and have firmly anchored them in our sustainability agenda. However, we are aware that we are not perfect: we are learning, processing and optimising. We always have ambitious goals for the future!

How does Foodji dispose of expired products?

With the help of artificial intelligence and specially developed algorithms we precisely tailor the product range at each location to the respective demand in order to avoid excess stock and product expiry. By restocking several times a week and monitoring best-before dates, we ensure that fresh products are always on offer. Products that do expire are disposed of properly in accordance with legal requirements.

What is Foodji doing to prevent food waste?

To prevent food waste from occurring in the first place, we use AI and specially developed algorithms to determine our customers' needs as accurately as possible. This precise assortment planning allows us to strike a balance between overstocking and understocking and always offer our guests the assortment they want. As a result, we can generate up to 70% less food waste. If, despite precise demand-based planning, there is still something left over, we donate the surplus meals to voluntary organisations such as Foodsharing throughout the UK. In this way, we ensure that no meal is wasted and that it has a positive social and environmental impact.

Is the packaging designed to be environmentally friendly?

All our main courses are packaged in recyclable disposable packaging, known as HALOPACKS. This innovative, paper-based packaging replaces conventional plastic trays and reduces plastic use by 70-90%. It consists mainly of sturdy cardboard lined with a thin, gas-tight plastic film. This ensures that our meals are packaged hygienically and leak-proof. After consumption, the packaging can be easily disposed of by removing the thin film from the cardboard tray and placing it in the recycling bin, while the cardboard tray goes into the waste paper bin, where it is 100% recycled.

How do you ensure that there is something for everyone?

As soon as a Foodji is set up at your workplace, we will send the entire team a survey asking about your preferences. In addition, there is the breadth of the range. Each location offers at least 12 main courses per week.

 

How do you ensure that no expired products are offered?

Since we sell fresh products and restock regularly, expired products are rare. If this does happen, the expired product is no longer offered for sale. We store the remaining shelf life of the products in our system and can control which products are dispensed by Foodji.

How often are the vending machines refilled?

That depends on your working hours. If you work shifts, you can expect three refills per week. If you work a five-day week, you can expect two refills per week.

Where do the ingredients for the meals come from?

We work with various selected suppliers and sustainable brands from Germany, such as Planted, dean&david and BettaF!sh. We pay attention to state-of-the-art, regional businesses, selected fresh ingredients and sustainable planning.

How is the freshness of the food guaranteed?

Our suppliers only use fresh ingredients with minimal preservatives. This, combined with our unbroken cold chain, ensures that our meals remain fresh and delicious!

What kind of meals does Foodji offer?

With over 300 main courses, snacks and drinks, Foodji offers a wide range of delicious and fresh dishes. From pasta to salads to sushi, there is something for everyone. Our overview shows you a small selection of our diverse range of products.

Can I view allergen and nutritional information for meals?

Yes, both before ordering in the Foodji app and on the Foodji screen, as well as after ordering on the labels of the dishes.

Can vending machine food be tasty?

Yes, of course. Especially when it comes to fresh food such as a salad bowl with goat's cheese, pasta and apple or a colourful vegetable curry with sweet potatoes from Foodji.

Are there seasonal or special menus?

Thanks to our growth, we are constantly expanding our range. Seasonal pumpkin dishes and sweet main courses are currently available. Here you will find a brief overview of our diverse range.

I follow a gluten-free diet. Are there any dishes for me?

Are there vegetarian or vegan options?

How can I join the subsidy programme?

Make sure you have selected the correct Foodji. Then click on the yellow bar that invites you to the subsidy programme. You will need to enter a code for authentication. You will receive this from your employer. Authentication is carried out via your registered email address. Make sure you have created your Foodji account with your company email address.

How do I collect my app order from Foodji?

To collect your app order from Foodji, click on ‘Collect now’. Your camera will now open. Go to your Foodji. You can easily scan the QR code at the bottom right of the screen with your camera. Your order will now be dispensed!

How do I find the right Foodji in my app?

Under ‘Foodjis nearby’, you can find all Foodjis in your immediate vicinity. Select the Foodji with the name of your location. To make it even easier for you, the distance between you and the Foodji is also displayed. Please ensure that your location services are enabled correctly. To do this, open the ‘Settings’ menu in your Foodji app and click on ‘Location settings’. You will now be redirected to your smartphone's settings, where you can enable location services for the Foodji app.

How can I register in the app?

To do this, you need an email address and a password. Please do not forget to confirm your email address before placing your first order, please contact our support team.

How can I pay at Foodji?

You can pay cashless at Foodji using your debit card, credit card (Visa, Mastercard), Apple Pay or Google Pay. In the Foodji app, you can set up a SEPA direct debit, credit card (Visa/Mastercard) or Apple or Google Pay.

How can I order from Foodji?

You can either order directly at Foodji via our touchscreen or shop via the Foodji app.

 

Would you like to order via the Foodji app?

Download the Foodji app from Google Play Store or Apple Store. Register and save your preferred payment method. Then select your Foodji via ‘My Foodjis’ and ‘Foodjis nearby’. You will now see the entire available range and can add your favourite product to your shopping basket, just like in the online shop. After placing your order, your product will be reserved for you for up to 6 hours and ready for collection.

 

Would you like to order directly from Foodji?


You can also shop directly at Foodji without signing up or registering. To do so, unlock the start screen with a quick tap on the touchscreen. You will now see the entire range of products available. Add your favourite products to your shopping basket using the ‘+’ icon and then pay cashless at the payment terminal.

How often will my Foodji be refilled?

My camera image remains black when I pick up my order (QR code scan) at Foodji.

Please check in your smartphone's system settings whether you have enabled your camera for the Foodji app. To do this, open your settings, search for the Foodji app and activate the camera function.

My direct debit payment did not work.

As a rule, you can easily pay your invoice manually. To do so, open the email you received after the failed debit. You can use the link contained in the email to pay your invoice by credit card.

Please also contact our support team, so that we can check your stored payment method together.

My SEPA limit has been exceeded.

My order was not subsidised.

Please ensure that your subsidy budget is sufficient for your order or that it has not already been used up. If you have multiple active orders, please note that the subsidy will always be applied to the first order.

My saved payment method no longer works.

Please check that your stored payment method has sufficient funds and is valid. Please contact our support team for your next purchase. Payment methods that cannot be charged are blocked by our system for security reasons. Our team will be happy to help you reactivate your payment method for your next purchase.

Unfortunately, my Foodji is not available.

If the Foodji screen displays maintenance work or is offline, our service team has already been automatically informed and is working hard to get it back up and running as quickly as possible.

The product I ordered is no longer available.

When you purchase your favourite dish via the Foodji app, it is automatically reserved for you for a period of 6 hours. If your reservation is no longer available, please check whether your order was placed more than 6 hours ago. Was your order placed less than 6 hours ago and is still unavailable? In exceptional cases, on restocking days, a product ordered in the morning may have been replaced by us with a new dish. In this case, you will receive a push notification. You do not have to pay for your dish and can choose a new one. Your subsidy will be automatically reactivated for you.

Can I have a say in the range of products offered by my Foodji?

Yes. In a joint initial survey, your team tells us what they like to eat, and we use AI to create a Foodji that is tailored to your team and their eating habits.

I am unable to save a payment method in the app.

Please have the following information ready for us:

 

1. Where is Foodji located? (Company name, department, floor)

2. When did you place your order (date, approximate time)?

3. Which product did you want to order?

I received a bill even though I didn't buy anything that day.

Your orders are not always billed on the same day. Billing is triggered as soon as your orders exceed a total amount of £10. If you have purchased less than £10 worth of goods, the amount will be debited on the 28th day of the month. The exact date of purchase is stated for each invoice item.

Will I receive an invoice?

As an app user, you will automatically receive an invoice by email. Invoices are generated and sent as soon as

- your orders exceed a total amount of £10.

- the 28th day of the month has been reached (for all remaining amounts under €10).

 

o  Did you buy directly on the Foodji screen?

 

We will be happy to issue an invoice for your purchase on the Foodji screen upon request. Please contact our customer support and have the following information ready:

 

- Which Foodji did you shop at?

- Date and time of your purchase

- Which product(s) did you purchase?

- The full billing address you require and an email address to which we may send the invoice.
