Foodji is coming to Franconia: Flexible employee catering for companies in Nuremberg

- With the new location in Nuremberg, the Munich-based scale-up is tapping into the economically strong northern part of Bavaria.
- Foodji's flexible catering concept provides employees with wholesome meals around the clock — as a supplement to or replacement for the canteen.
- Small and medium-sized businesses also benefit: Fresh food is thus possible regardless of size, shift times or location.
Munich, September 24, 2025 — The Munich-based food tech provider Foodji continues to expand: With immediate effect, the company is also serving businesses in the Nuremberg area with its automated catering concept. Foodji is thus responding to the growing demand for flexible and high-quality employee catering in one of the most economically dynamic regions in Germany.
For Foodji, the new location marks the next logical step in its growth strategy: “Nuremberg is a strong business location with a high density of medium-sized companies and a clear focus on future technologies,” explains Thorsten Schaar, Vice President Sales at Foodji. “This is exactly where we see enormous potential: Especially in industries such as automotive, IT or logistics, people often work around the clock. This creates a supply requirement that classic canteen models usually do not cover. Our automated catering solution fills this gap — and also enables shift and night workers to get full and fresh food. ”
Ingentis focuses on modern catering at work
HR software provider Ingentis is one of the first companies to already use Foodji. “Ingentis is not just about powerful HR software, but also about the question of how a working environment must be designed so that people can develop their potential,” says Lavinia Gieringer, project manager at Ingentis. “We started the project with Foodji because we want to offer our 140 employees good food options. Especially at our location in an industrial park, there are only a few alternatives within walking distance — against this background, the introduction of Foodji was eagerly awaited by us. ”
The feedback from the team is positive, the first fans of the machine are already there. “We are currently closely monitoring how the offer is being accepted and are gaining experience for further planning,” says Lavinia Gieringer. A big advantage: The effort for the company is minimal. “Foodji takes care of everything — from filling to billing. For our employees, this means access to fresh food at any time, regardless of the time or day of the week. ”
Food that adapts to everyday working life
The Foodji concept hits the nerve of the times and is also suitable for small budgets and hybrid work concepts: “We bring fresh, balanced and tasty meals exactly to where people spend their everyday lives: at work,” says Felix Munte, CEO and co-founder of Foodji. “To achieve this, we focus uncompromisingly on quality and freshness — the result of a well-thought-out system that meets the highest standards from recipe to logistics. ”
Many small and medium-sized companies lack their own canteen, as this is only worthwhile once the company has reached a certain size. High-quality catering options are also fundamental for the social fabric in the company, as Felix Munte explains: “The topic of employee catering has long been about more than just satisfying hunger: food is not a luxury, but a basic human need. In future, fresh, healthy food at work will no longer be regarded as a benefit, but as a standard. ”
The AI-supported vending machines offer over 300 changing main courses, the composition of which is constantly being adapted to the needs of customers. Meals are provided without staff commitment or long lead times. This also enables small and medium-sized companies to offer cost-efficient, high-level catering services, regardless of company size or shift times.
Objective: Fresh food at every workplace
After hanover and augsburg Nuremberg is already the third new location that Foodji is opening this year. This is made possible, among other things, by expanded Series A financing of 28 million US dollars. Foodji wants to continue its growth path in the long term — with the clear goal of expanding its position as the leading provider of intelligent catering for employees in Germany.
